‘Motorismo’

Motorcycle culture is strong in Spain. With a population of only 47 millions there were 2,703,697 motorcycles on the road in October 2010 (the latest available statistics) of which 852,504 were 125 – 500 cc’s and 77,6857 over 500 cc’s – one of which was mine, of course! But nearly 50% of bikes are small, making bikes between 75 – 125 cc’s with 868,633 machines, the biggest single group. The economic crisis has hit the bike market hard, however, with new registrations falling from an al time high of 279,472 in 2007 to just 125,527 in 2010, with almost the exact proportional drop for bikes over 750 cc’s.
