Roads and riding

There is no superlative that can adequately describe Spain’s roads – they are quite simply superb. Since Spain’s entry into the European Union in 1986 it has spent its very considerable slice of the EU’s developments funds well, prioritising transport systems of all types, including the largest High Speed Train network in Europe and an expanding and constantly improving system of motorway dual carriageways and improved national trunk roads. But perhaps the most important change as far as bikers are concerned  is in the quality and standardisation, or lack of it, in the secondary roads, which have led to changing driving habits – somewhat of a double-edged sword!
